True Freedom comes from within.

Picture
No OUTER version of freedom is ultimately going to bring the sense of contentment and joy that an INNER sense of freedom can bring.

How do you get that inner sense of freedom and what does it look like? By truly letting go of attachments to material things like money, the right clothes, the right house… as well as things like what other people think about you, I believe you can achieve a sense of abundance, flow, and peace. It all originates within your own spirit.

I’m not saying I’m there yet, but I do know my goal. My goal is complete freedom! In my daily life I practice this letting go by doing my best to recognize when I am attached to something, and letting go. I’m so much better at this than I used to be. I feel more FREE than ever these days! My outer life is not perfect, although there are some pretty great elements to it! My inner life is pretty wonderful as well, and I attribute that directly to this process of letting go. I still catch myself thinking that if some element of my life were different, I would be able to feel more free. The truth is, I am free right now. I have control over my actions, and over my perception of my reality. I may not have complete travel freedom to go anywhere I want to in the world tomorrow, but I believe as I continue to do this work, that that level of outer freedom may become a reality for me!

What do you think about this?  How do you define TRUE FREEDOM? Leave a comment to share your thoughts!

Lots of Love and Light,
Sara

Self-Awareness is not always affirming, but if you let it, it can be fuel for profound change.

Picture
This probably doesn’t feel like your typical “love and light” post from me. I’m a big fan of affirmation, and often when we talk about getting to know yourself, we’re talking about discovering your hopes and dreams, what you desire, your talents and gifts. There’s another element to self-knowledge however, and that is recognizing and acknowledging the bad habits, wrong thinking, assumptions and judgements. Nobody is perfect. We know this, but yet, at least for me, it’s really hard to take a look at my imperfections. I’ve got my blind spots. I’ve got my areas of life where I need to develop skills.

The point of this post is that until you are AWARE of those areas you can’t do anything about them! There’s a distinction that I want to make here, because some imperfections are really just human qualities that we are meant to embrace, accept, and love about ourselves. If you think your nose is too big, you don’t like your voice, or you have a weird toe, these are not things that need “fixing”... I’m talking here about places in your mental, emotional and social health where some self-awareness may lead to more connection, peace, and joy for you if you are willing to do the work.

I’m offering life coaching by phone or by email (or even in person, if we can arrange it!) because I believe in the power of self-awareness and believe that I am a catalyst for positive change for those that are ready to embrace it. It often takes being willing to stare directly at the habits or behaviors that you like least about yourself and commit to doing it a different way. I will be a compassionate and supportive voice along the way that believes in you but will also hold you accountable to making those changes so you can live a life you love! Mindset is everything.

Picture
Note to self: When you think the trouble you’re having is about something “out there”... check yourself. Mindset is everything. It starts within. Meditate. Journal. Talk to a friend. Move your body.

Get it right. ;)

Allow Life to express freely through you.

Picture
Happy Independence Day! I wish you a profound sense of personal FREEDOM today and every day!

Here is an excerpt from my ABC book, from the page “F is for Freedom”:

You’re wondering what the world’s all about.
You have the Freedom to ask questions and doubt.
You have your own thoughts, you want us to hear.
You have the Freedom to say what you feel!

It’s ok to wonder. It’s ok to doubt.
It’s ok to say what you’re thinking about.
Speak from your heart. Do what you like to.
You have the Freedom to find what excites you!

Learn about yourself; discover what you like.
Say what you want, and be brave with your life!
Be your own person, and soon you will see.
It’s all up to you, so choose to be FREE!

Expect nothing, Appreciate everything.

Picture
This one takes a second. At first when I read this, (It’s attributed to “Anonymous” online and has been shared hundreds of times on the web) I didn’t fully take in the beauty of this concept.

To me, this represents an approach to life that is easily delighted, and rarely gets deeply disappointed.  Sure, life will bring disappointments, even tragedies, and I am not saying that life will always be pleasant.

In fact, that’s kind of the point! To expect that life will always go your way is to ensure your expectations will not be met.

First of all, to expect that things will sometimes go your way and other times you’ll be on the losing end of the stick, is to let go of attaching your emotional well-being to the outcome of any situation.

Secondly, to come from a position of appreciating everything, is to adopt the famed “attitude of gratitude” and approach life with wonder and amazement for the gifts in your life!

I love this 4-word philosophy for how to be happy. It works wonders!

Believe in your capacity to do the thing you think you cannot do.

Picture
Take that voice in your head, examine what it’s saying from a critical ear, and then turn it into a challenge.

We all have those limiting voices. That part of us that is worried about failure will try to protect us by saying “It can’t be done.” Is that true? Has it been done in the past? If so, then why not by you, too? It’s never been done? Why can’t you be the first?

Chances are, with enough creativity and perseverance, you are capable of so much more than that voice is telling you you are. Is it true that absolutely anyone can do absolutely anything they can dream of in the Universe? I’m okay with saying that there may be some limits to that claim.

From a personal angle: I’m not going to be the new world record holder for running a marathon or a 100-yard sprint. I’m just not. I may, however, with enough consistent work, be able to reach new personal records on a 5K or 10K that I can be proud of! It’s not important to me to be the fastest human on the planet. It’s not my dream so it’s really okay. It IS my goal, however, to get back in shape and feel like an athlete again. I’ve let myself get to a place (again! urrg…) where I sacrifice exercise and healthy eating for sluggish movement and eating whatever I can get my hands on. It’s easy to live the laptop life and let those self-care things fade to the background. The result is that I don’t feel amazing in my skin every day, and I want to! That voice tells me “You always do this. You can’t keep weight off. You can’t be consistent with a healthy lifestyle. There’s something wrong with you!” Is that true? NO. NONE of that is true. I do see the potential, I’ve been there in the past, and I’m tired of the swings, the ups and downs of it all. So with some new commitment and consistent action, I know I can live the lifestyle that will give me more of that feeling I’m after! I have some work to do on my beliefs in this area.

Where do you have limiting beliefs and are you ready to believe in your capacity to do the thing you think you cannot do?

Keep giving, Keep learning, Stay open, Stay Brave!

Picture
This is a quote from the final page of my ABC book! Z is for Zesty:

“You have a unique and zesty appeal.
I sure hope that this is how you feel.

That you are amazing, yes the bright shiny you,
Give us your inner brilliance, that’s all you need to do!

In case through this book, you still haven’t heard it,
We need it, we want it, it doesn’t have to be perfect!

So stay super zesty, keep riding this wave.
Keep giving, keep learning, stay open, stay brave!”

My “No” is a “Yes” to something closer to my purpose.

Picture
Sometimes “No” is the hardest word to say. When you know it’s for a bigger “Yes” it becomes imperative.

With every decision you make you are creating your own reality.

Picture
To me, creativity is so much more than painting, singing, dancing, writing, etc. We are all creative beings, and we are “creating” in every moment.

Sometimes I feel like I am not in control, and that life is happening TO ME. Then I remember that while life is happening the way it is happening,  I am also interpreting and experiencing my life a certain way, and the thoughts and actions that I choose make a difference.

The little things add up to the big things! How I show up in any given situation absolutely has an effect on my future. What I eat, how ~ or if ~ I move my body, how much sleep I get; these things all add up to a big effect on my health. That’s just one example. The focus and attention I give to my career on a daily basis has a big effect on my success, obviously! My authenticity and courage in personal relationships will make a difference in the depth of connection I feel with others.

What choices can you make that will help create the reality you desire?
